After 44 years in business as a steel foundry, Akmetal decided to expand into open die forging.

A 1000 ton open die forging press and a six ton railbound manipilator has been installed in a purpose build hall. The press and manipulator has been designed to be used by one operator with the aid of state of the art hydraulics with plc controls.

The ingots will be either cast in house with  AOD converter treated steel or bought externally from a nearby steel plant with vacuum facility, depending on customer specifications.
